Northumberland

November 2024

In late 2024, I decided to once again pick up my camera in anger, sign up for a workshop or two and see if I could develop my skills. I landed on my feet with my first effort, attaching myself to the excellent Verity Milligan and the excellent Bill Ward. (You’ve seen him on the stage and TV, but he’s more impressive behind the camera. Check out his new ‘Immersive’ book on his website.)

Anyway, Verity and Bill did their best to guide me back into the craft, and I departed Northumberland with a better appreciation of northern England, and an induction into ICM (intentional camera movement) and long-exposure photography, two genres I have never explored before. Best of all, I came away with a determination to keep going.

I also managed to snag an image that managed a Silver medal at one of the monthly Guild of Photographers competitions this year. You’ll see the image about halfway through this kaleidoscope of flaff I captured last year. I hope you enjoy it.
