Workshops & Courses

January-March 2025

The photo gods were smiling upon me the day I heard about Charlotte Bellamy and her courses. A certified Master Craftsman at the Guild of Photographers, Charlotte is armed with skill, enthusiasm, and seemingly boundless energy - all coupled with a willingness to pass along her knowledge and insights to her willing disciples - of which I became one.

Signing up for three of Charlotte’s programs, I eagerly soaked up all she could tell me about Woodland Photography, assembling a year-long Project, and waving my camera about to create impressionistic images using Intentional Camera Movement, or ICM.

ICM became a particular joy of mine. The idea is to leave the shutter open for a while and move the camera about, basically painting light over the sensor in swirls and patterns. The results may not be to everyone’s cup of tea - but they are to me. To say you need to kiss a lot of frogs to find an ICM prince is an understatement. There is a degree of randomness to the whole exercise, and I discovered I needed a large measure of patience before an image comes out the back of my camera that creates the ‘feel’ that I want. But fun? One-hundred percent. Thank you , Charlotte!
